Is Amazon FBA (eCommerce) Success Possible Part Time?

getting started Jan 17, 2021

If you are thinking of starting your Amazon FBA business or your eCommerce alongside a career, here are some big things to really think about and possibly take action on, and to then decide ultimately, what is the right career path for you.

In this blog post, it will answer a great question below:

"Hi I am Nacer I live in the uk. I am 17 this march 2021 ,and I am in college studying health and social care to then become a paramedic which I love to do but on the other hand I would like to become in the eCommerce industry for pharmaceutical distribution. My question is that could you do eCommerce on side of a full time career? Thanks."

"Yes, success is possible but there will come a time to decide what you focus on long term" - Kev, Founder & Chief Executive Officer At Systemise Fulfilment Life Success Engineer

How We Started Our Amazon FBA Business In 2015?

You may just be leaving school, studying at college or studying at university; you may be in your 20s, 30s, 40s; or you may have already started a business, and you are looking at entrepreneurship.

What you should do is take some time and figure out how you want to live your life, figure out what you want for yourself.

But then, if you decide that you really want this and you are set in stone at the idea, you are going to experience a time when you are going to need to make a choice on ultimately how big you can grow your business, and how committed you are going to be in your career, because you cannot do both at once long-term.

Firstly, you want to decide which business model is suited to you:

  1. Retail Arbitrage
  2. Online Arbitrage
  3. Wholesale
  4. Private Label

There are difference's (pro's and con's) to each and you can learn more about them here

Kev & Kylie started at home in June 2015 while working full time as electrical engineer & hairdresser.

Depending on what your goal is, it is going to start to have a significant impact on both. You are going to have pressures, deadlines, exams and projects, which you will have to do in your work. But at the same time, you are going to have the same, and things and you are going to need to build up your business. So, at some point, they are going to clash. Then, you are going to have to decide ultimately what you are wanting to do. You need to make a choice. What do you want for yourself in the future? You have your career path and then entrepreneurship, they both come with rewards and they both come with risks.

Yes, you can build an Amazon FBA business and eCommerce business part-time. The things that you are doing after college, university, work, you can start to study and learn. You can start to learn about eCommerce, wholesale and private label; you can start to develop relationships with suppliers, and you can start to learn the ins and outs of what are required, and what you will be doing in the evenings and weekends.

Though, for some people, they may already have a career, a family to look after, responsibilities, a house, mortgage, rent; may be a mother, father or legal guardian, which then makes this question a lot more difficult. You need to know exactly what you are going into.

Entrepreneurship in any field, especially when you are starting your own online business part-time, you are going to learn a lot. You are going to learn a lot from the legal side of things, accounting side of things, you will learn a lot about the systems - how the business works, suppliers, analysing products, how Amazon FBA works, shipping physical products. All of which takes time.

Depending on what you do today, it can really make a huge difference 10 years from now. Seek council from those closest to you - parents, friends, family, and get advice from them. But do have a thought that they are not living your life; you are living your life, and what is important to you, your friends or family may not see that same perspective.
